Kalamazoo Bridge Center
Bridge Classes

To promote the game of bridge, we offer both beginning and intermediate bridge classes, at various times throughout the year.

For the beginning player - We have elected to use the ACBL - Audrey Grant Club, Diamond, Heart, Spade Series materials. Each series is an eight-week course. The Club series is mainly for people that want to learn how to play the game and have little or no knowledge of the game of Bridge. The Diamond Series relates to play of the hand. The Heart Series focuses on Defense and the Spade Series is an Introduction to Duplicate Bridge. Each session is two hours and student textbooks are provided.

For the player that has some knowledge of the game we have Intermediate classes - In these classes we use our own internally developed materials. These classes are typically 6-week programs, which focus mainly on various bidding conventions, defensive techniques, declarer play and rules of duplicate bridge. For example; Negative Doubles, Takeout Doubles and Overcalls, Stayman, Major Suit Transfers, Limit Raises, Responses to Minor & Major Suit Opening bids, Weak Two bids and Responses. New Minor Forcing, and other popular conventions, declarer play, opening leads, 2nd & 3rd hand play, discards, etc. Each session is 2 hours and handouts are available.
